Why do some people (many actually) think it's OK to torture and mutilate defenseless animals? Do they have some kind of mental problem; do parents teach their children they don't have to be gentle and caring because "they're only animals!" It would be a good idea if schools had a session on animal care to show children how important it is, then perhaps we could prevent this psychopathic compulsion at the outset.
I am a supporter of WSPA, PETA, and various other animal welfare organisations from all over the world, because animal cruelty is worldwide. There are petitions online in support of animals who have suffered at the hand of a two-legged torturers, and letters, to be sent to government bodies. It's an ongoing fight because the more cases we help, the more there are to help!
Every case of cruelty is important, but some are exceptionally horrific. We campaign against the use of fur in fashion because (and this is what most people don't realise) the animals used for fur fashion are skinned alive! Cats, dogs, rabbits, etc. any, in fact, with fur, and faux fur is actually dog or cat.So, of course, we ask people not to buy anything made from fur, and the biggest users are celebrities, but we don't let up on them.
Another area we concentrate on is vivisection; the practice of cutting up animals while they are still alive-the excuse for this is that is easier for students to learn, but they learn just as much from animals who are'nt alive! They don't do this to humans to teach doctors and surgeons, so why do it to animals?
Animals are also used in testing products for the home, cosmetics, medications, when there are alternative ways to do it without causing suffering to a defenseless animal. This practise is extremely cruel; animals have liquids put in their eyes or mouths to see whether there is anything that would harm a human, and the ingredients in cosmetics are tried out on animals first. A comprehensive list of companies that use animals in their tests can be found online, as well as ones who don't. It's a good idea to check whether your particular brand is guilty!
Animals are sentient beings like humans; they feel pain and terror as we do.They can suffer depression and sadness when neglected just as we do.
Animals can't speak for themselves so we have to do it for them, and that's basically what animal welfare organisations do. It's not clever to hurt a defenseless animal, and those who do quite often develop Psychopathic tendencies and go on to harming other people.
Mahatma Ghandi, said "Man will be judged by how he treats his animals" We also say "Real men don't hurt animals" They don't beat them, rape them, starve them, or abandon them, (but it happens!).
I have taken a pledge to always speak up when I see evidence of animal cruelty, and I hope you will too!
